About WP Gems
Every now and then you stumble across a WordPress plugin that quietly solves a problem you didn’t know you had — something small, clever, and made with care. Those are the kinds of discoveries WP Gems was built to share.
The idea first came from a blog post by Nick at Iconik. He wrote about uncovering “hidden gems” in the WordPress plugin directory — a concept that instantly clicked. That simple idea sparked this project: a way to give those hidden gems a dedicated home and make it easier for others to discover them, too.
WP Gems is a fully automated project that highlights interesting new plugins from the official WordPress.org repository. Each day, it checks for new and recently updated plugins, filters out the obvious spam, and ranks the rest to surface the most promising finds. There’s no manual curation, sponsorship, or affiliate involvement — just an automated way to spotlight the creativity happening across the WordPress community.
In the future, we may share occasional updates about the site or new projects. If you’d like to stay in the loop, you can join the mailing list using the sign-up form below. If you’re just looking to keep up with the daily editions, you can follow along through our RSS feed.
We also welcome thoughts and suggestions. You can share feedback anytime using this short form.
WP Gems is a personal project by ABC Drew. He’d love it if you checked out his other project, ABC Stats.
